S Africa & Zimbabwe

Posted March, 2013 by John

We had long wanted to go to South Africa., and were able to spend about 2 1/2 weeks in South Africa & Zimbabwe in August, 2012. The trip was superb: beautiful sights & scenery, a few friends visited, and of course the magnificent animals.

A few notes and some photos will be coming soon. In the meantime:

A couple of videos of some of the animals we encountered: at RiverBend Lodge in the Addo National Elephant Park, north of Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and at Goliath Safaris, in Mana Pools National Park, on the banks of the Zambezi River in northern Zimbabwe, where we were with the great guide, Stretch Ferreira.

The elephants get their own film, because of their majesty and power. A couple of encounters spooked Oksana for most of future elephant sightings…

But that wasn’t enough to stop us from canoeing with the hippos and crocs in the Zambezi…
